What is SuRIA Home?
SuRIA Home (Sustainable Rebate and Incentive Assistance) is a Malaysian government programme by PETRA, launched on 22 May 2026. It sets aside RM 150 million in cash rebates to help Malaysian households go solar and lower their electricity bills.

Frequently Asked Questions
SuRIA Home (Sustainable Rebate and Incentive Assistance) is a government incentive introduced by the Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (PETRA) to encourage residential rooftop solar adoption. Eligible Malaysian residential customers can receive a cash rebate of RM600 per kWac, up to a maximum of RM3,000 per eligible individual. The rebate is available for eligible Solar ATAP installations and is subject to the programme's allocation and eligibility requirements.
To be eligible, applicants generally must:
- Be a Malaysian citizen.
- Be an individual domestic low-voltage electricity consumer.
- Have an eligible residential electricity account with TNB.
- Install and successfully commission a rooftop solar PV system under Solar ATAP through a SEDA Malaysia Registered PV Service Provider (RPVSP).
- Meet the applicable SuRIA Home eligibility and application requirements.
- Have not previously received a SolaRIS cash rebate, as the rebate is limited to one claim per eligible individual.
The programme is available from 1 June 2026 until 31 December 2026, or until the allocated rebate is fully distributed, whichever comes first.
Your potential savings depend on factors such as your household's electricity consumption, solar PV system size, roof orientation and shading, and how much of the generated electricity is consumed directly by your home.
Solar energy generated during the day can be used by your household, reducing the amount of electricity that needs to be purchased from TNB. Excess electricity may be exported to the grid according to the applicable Solar ATAP mechanism.
Actual savings therefore vary from household to household, and no fixed level of monthly savings can be guaranteed.
No. SuRIA Home operates on a first-come, first-served basis and is subject to the programme's available allocation.
The government has allocated RM150 million for the programme, with an estimated total capacity of approximately 250MW, supporting around 45,000 to 50,000 residential homes.
Applications may close once the available allocation has been fully distributed, even if this happens before 31 December 2026.
The SuRIA Home rebate is linked to the eligible Solar ATAP installation and commissioning process. Your appointed SEDA Malaysia Registered PV Service Provider can assist you with the required Solar ATAP application, documentation and relevant procedures.
After the system is successfully commissioned and the applicable requirements are fulfilled, eligible customers will be contacted by TNB regarding the SuRIA Home rebate process and bank account verification.
After your eligible solar PV system has been successfully installed and commissioned, TNB will contact eligible customers through their registered email regarding the SuRIA Home rebate and bank account details.
Once the required information has been verified, the approved rebate of up to RM3,000 will be transferred to the customer's preferred local bank account. The transfer is expected to take approximately 7 working days after verification, subject to the applicable processing and banking procedures.
A battery energy storage system is not required to receive the SuRIA Home rebate.
Whether you can add a battery system later depends on the solar PV system and inverter installed at your property. If you are considering future battery storage, you should discuss battery compatibility and suitable inverter options with your solar installer before installation.
